I am at this town called Cherrygrove, taking a rest. I don't see any rush. I couldn't help but see the large lake on the other side of the town.

It is beautiful, but I feel...

...I feel terrible, unlike myself, without having a fishing rod. Aside from that, a thought has occurred to me. Why is animal training common in this land called Johto?

Is there a war going on?

A war? You don't think that's the reason for training these little creatures, do you?

War?! [He just burst out laughing.] HAHAHA that's the last thing the I'd expect from the people that live here.

Everything in this world revolves around these creatures. From what I understand catching and training is just an important part of the culture.

Yes, you'll find pokemon are the main aspect of this society. They sends there kids off at the age of 10 to travel this world to catch pokemon.

The only place you can get medical attention is the pokemon center. Don't get me started on the people you meet on the roads.

Using the pokémon... I hope we're not training them for a war!

I doubt the people here have the organizational power to start a war, let alone conduct one. Their obsession with large-scale cockfighting seems to make up for a lot of violent urges.

There's a man who gives away very simple fishing rods near to Union Cave. They aren't very good quality, though.

A fishing rod? You can buy those in a few stores... Or you can always ask someone to send you one to Cherrygrove.

And about the war... This world has strange rules, but there is no war going on at the time, fortunately.

Pardon me. I just arrived in Johto so I don't completely fathom the purpose of this pokemon training.

Hmm, maybe Johto isn't so different from my world.

I see. Where is Union Cave?

Nope, they don't. After seeing the mom, you can get a pretty good feel for how everyone is in this place.

I wouldn't want to go to your world then.

I see. When I came here, I had a peaceful feeling that I haven't felt in a long while.

This place is a nice place... There are a few problems here and there, especially when Team Rocket is involved, but most of the time it is really welcoming and peaceful.

They are a crime syndicate... They had been really quiet for a while, but they have started acting up again.

Oh joy, I have to deal with enough status to deal with back home. A class system would be hell.

You're new here as well? It sounds like there are quite a bit of us! I haven't seen any soldiers, however... Just these creatures.

It's between Route 32 to 33, south of Violet City. I haven't personally traveled through it; I'm not overly fond of caves.

They haven't been that successful, since most of the trainers and breeders are glad to join forces to stop their plans, but they can still cause much trouble.

We do battle with them, right? I wouldn't be surprised if they're used for large-scale battle.

He listens when it comes time to fight the wild ones though, so I guess it works out.

Well... Not exactly... My first one bit me, so all I do is care for it. I think I'm supposed to breed them.

Oh, so you're more like a caretaker. Like a farmer.

I think so! However, I've never farmed before... But I do like caring for them! Well, the ones that don't bite.

I hope so! Well, my dinosaur doesn't bite as harshly anymore! So I guess that counts...
